Like many, I began working out because I wanted to look good and lose weight. I wish I could say it was for less vain reasons, but I don't want to be both vain and a liar. However, this reasoning began to take a back seat once I realized there were so many other benefits to working out and eating well: more energy, more happiness, and more confidence.
Women, especially, need strength and power training for both obvious and less discussed reasons. Everyone knows that exercise is needed for a healthy body, but, specifically for women, strength training can help create a strong sense of self. Sometimes women are taught, both overtly and covertly, that we're weak or incapable, especially in the areas of strength and power. So, what's the use in developing it?
Sigh, and, yes, you'll look better! (I swear this is the only thing you people care about. I love you.) Let's get practical.
You will literally be stronger and add value and years to your life when you gain strength and power. No, everything will not turn perfect, but your strong body will weather the storms of life more gracefully for yourself and others. You'll have more energy to soak up the sunny days as well.
